PANiBoost, with NaHCO₃, is a modified Human Tubal Fluid medium (HTF) developed for scientific work with human sperm. In contrast to PANiPure, the formulation contains 25 mM bicarbonate (NaHCO₃).
Following supplementation with, for example, 3 mg/ml human serum albumin (HSA) or bovine serum albumin (BSA), PANiBoost enables the preparation, for example by swim-up or density gradient centrifugation, incubation, and investigation of sperm under capacitating conditions.
The formulation of PANiBoost was defined by researchers at the University of Münster as part of the ProCon.MS study ( https://www.medizin.uni-muenster.de/reproductionms/proconms.html ) in order to ensure standardized experimental conditions as well as comparable and reproducible results across different study centers.
