PANiPure is a modified Human Tubal Fluid medium (HTF) developed for scientific experiments with human sperm. The formulation is based on an HTF basal medium and contains neither bicarbonate (NaHCO₃) nor exogenous protein sources such as human serum albumin (HSA) or bovine serum albumin (BSA). PANiPure therefore enables the preparation, for example by swim-up or density gradient centrifugation, incubation, and investigation of sperm under non-capacitating conditions, while offering flexibility for users who require individually supplemented conditions.
The formulation of PANiPure was defined by researchers at the University of Münster as part of the ProCon.MS study ( https://www.medizin.uni-muenster.de/reproductionms/proconms.html ) in order to ensure standardized experimental conditions as well as comparable and reproducible results across different study centers.
