Interferon gamma, IFNγ, is a major immune-modulating molecule produced mainly by T cells and natural killer cells activated by antigens, mitogens or alloantigens. Most immune cells express IFNγ receptors and respond to IFNγ-induced signaling by up-regulating MHC class I expression.
